Medical microneedling, also referred to as Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, enlarged pores, stretch marks, skin laxity and scarring such as that caused by acne or chicken pox. How Microneedling Works: At the beginning of this treatment we will firstly cleanse the treatment area and then apply a topical anaesthetic numbing cream for a more comfortable experience. Within our Cheshire clinic, we use a microneedling pen rather than a dermal roller. This is a pen like device with multiple tiny, thin needles is used to perform the microneedling treatment. The microneedling pen is gently moved over the treatment area while the tiny needles lightly and quickly vibrate to penetrate the skin. The tiny, controlled injuries that the needles create on the skin then work stimulate the skin’s natural self-repair response and works to produce collagen and elastin and the support of new skin cell growth and fibroblasts. During our standard Microneedling treatments we use NCTF 135HA which includes hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and co-enzymes, which help to stimulate cell regeneration, boost collagen production, and improve skin elasticity. Microneedling is also a core component of the PRP facial, creating micro-channels in the skin to enhance the treatment effectiveness.
