Tweakment
/twiːkm(ə)nt/
A non-surgical aesthetics treatment, with minimal downtime, designed to refresh, renew and uplift!
Weddings, birthdays, Christmas parties…or just to treat yourself, we get “tweakments” for a whole host of reasons. This can include dermal fillers, botox, a chemical peel, radiofrequency, microneedling, hydro-facial…the list is extensive (and exciting!).
If you have a special occasion that has inspired your decision to tweak, you’ll need to consider a timeline for treatment. The best way to do this is to firstly book a consultation to discuss what outcome you would like to achieve. When booking a consultation we often have a treatment in mind, rather than the concern we wish to address- but it may turn out that there are other treatments available that would provide better results for your needs. This will affect your timeline, so it’s best to get booked in as soon as you can to ensure you’re all prepared.
Once you have a treatment plan worked out, our team can help you to pinpoint the best date to have your treatment appointment. You’ll need to consider any bruising, swelling or time required for the tweakment to kick in.
⏱️ Expected Downtime for Aesthetic Treatments
Treatment | Downtime & Aftercare |
Botox (Anti-Wrinkle Injections) | No true downtime. Small, raised bumps at the injection sites settle within 15–30 minutes. Minor bruising is rare but possible. |
Dermal Fillers (Including Lips) | Results are instant, but it takes 2–3 weeks for all initial swelling, tenderness, and potential bruising to completely subside. |
Profhilo® (Skin Booster) | Minimal downtime. Small, raised "blebs" or bumps at the injection points usually disperse and flatten within 6–24 hours. Mild bruising is possible. |
Profhilo® Structura | Minimal downtime. Small, visible bumps may be present but tend to resolve within 6–24 hours (occasionally up to 2 days). Mild swelling/bruising is possible. |
Polynucleotides | Minimal downtime. You may experience slight redness, mild swelling, and small bumps at the injection sites, which typically resolve within 24–48 hours (occasionally up to 72 hours). |
Exosomes | Minimal to no downtime. Often applied with Microneedling. Expect mild redness, similar to a sunburn, which subsides in a few hours to 24 hours. Full results are seen over several weeks. |
Emsculpt | No downtime. You can resume normal activities immediately. The treated area will feel like you had an intense workout, with muscle soreness possible for 1–3 days. |
Microneedling | Skin will look red, like a mild sunburn, for 24–48 hours, with potential light flaking or peeling for up to 5 days. Full results develop over 4–6 weeks. |
Fractional Radiofrequency | Expect redness and mild swelling for 1–3 days. Tiny "micro-crusting" marks that feel like sandpaper can last for 3–7 days before shedding. |
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) | Minimal downtime. Expect mild redness for a few hours to 1–2 days. Treating brown spots causes them to darken and flake off over 5–10 days. |
Radiofrequency (RF) Skin Tightening | Generally a 'no downtime' procedure. You may have mild redness and warmth which usually resolves within a few hours. |
The Perfect Peel® | Significant, visible peeling begins around day 3 and can continue for up to 7–10 days. The skin is sensitive and requires strict aftercare. |
The Perfect Peel® Superblend | A gentler peel. Mild peeling and flaking typically begins around day 3–4 and is generally complete by day 7. |
Tweakments work best when thought of as an ongoing process rather than a one-off (although they can be!).
At Renew, we focus on preparing the skin and maintaining its health to ensure that results last longer, and less are needed in the future. We do this by also recommending treatments that focus of restoring the health of your skin, such as medical facials, LED light therapy and microneedling. So if you are booking far enough in advance, it is a good idea to discuss what additional treatments can be incorporated into your plan!
